Board of Directors Meeting: 4:15-5:15

Course Description: Learning to eat higher textures is a multi-faceted phenomenon that evolves from the child’s cultural fabric, medical/health context, social-emotional interactions with caregiver, experiences with food textures, on-going sensory-motor skill development, etc. This course presents the topic of texture advancement primarily from an oral-motor perspective as a function of age- and experience (acknowledging the critical importance of the other factors).

  • Identify at least 5 milestones toward advancing texture between 6-months and 31-months
  • Describe at least 3 tongue movements that typically-developing children use to lateralize higher textures.
